Let’s be honest—family photos can feel a little intimidating. You want everyone to look their best, smile just right, and somehow cooperate all at the same time. But what if I told you the best family photos don’t come from perfect poses… In fact, there IS something that never fails to capture amazing, stunning, smiling photos! Ready for it?...
It's PLAY!
As a family photographer, I’ve learned the secret to capturing those heartfelt, joy-filled images you’ll treasure forever: just play with your kids.

Why Play Works
When you're playing, you're present. You're laughing. You're connecting. And those real moments—little giggles, bear hugs, messy hair, and spontaneous twirls—are what make your photos come alive.
Forget stiff smiles and awkward poses. When you tickle your toddler or race your preschooler across the field, your expressions are genuine. The love is visible. The connection is real. And that’s exactly what I’m there to capture.
What “Play” Looks Like in a Photo Session
Here are a few examples of what play might look like during your session:
Running hand-in-hand through a field
Tossing your toddler in the air
Snuggling in a blanket pile
Whispering secrets and making silly faces
Holding hands and dancing barefoot in the grass
The goal isn't to perform for the camera. It’s to enjoy the people you love while I quietly document the magic as it unfolds.
You Don’t Need to Be Perfect—Just Present
You don’t have to worry about doing it “right.” Just show up ready to connect with your family. I’ll gently guide you when needed, but the most beautiful moments happen when you let go of perfection and lean into what makes your family yours.
So, next time you’re wondering how to pose for family photos… remember the secret: just play with your kids. Be present. Have fun. Love each other out loud.
And I’ll be there to freeze it in time. 🤍
